This service is for the use of the general public: "Take What You Need, Give What You Can." Non-perishable food, clothing items, books etc are gratefully accepted.

Canada Summer Jobs - St. Barra Parish

Canada Summer Jobs – 2024

St Barra Parish plans to hire two workers for 8 weeks this summer. One will look after the mowing and trimming at the church and cemetery in Iona, and the second person will do the same in Christmas Island. Applicants must be between 15 and 30 years of age and have some experience with mowing and trimming equipment. The position runs from July 2 to August 26, 35 hours a week at $15.20 per hour. If you are interested, please forward your resume to Hugh MacKinnon at hlmackinnon2@gmail.com. Deadline for applications is May 2, 2024.

St. Barra Parish - Sacraments

ST. BARRA PARISH: The Sacraments of First Eucharist, First Penance and Confirmation will take place at St. Columba Church, Iona, in the spring. Eligible candidates for First Eucharist (Grades 2 and up); First Penance (Grades 4 and up) and Confirmation (Grades 7 and up) are required to register by emailing stcolumba.iona@ns.sympatico.ca or by phoning Josie at 902-725-2173. More information on classes, etc., will be announced at a later date. This is for children in Iona area, Christmas Island area and Boisdale area. Please register as soon as possible. Thank you.

Windows at St. Columba Church

WINDOWS AT ST.COLUMBA CHURCH-The two wooden windows on the water side of the church will need to be replaced this year at an estimated cost of $2000 per window. As was done with the previous window replacement, any parishioner or friend of the parish who would like to donate a window in memory of a family member or friend can do so by contacting Gregory at 902-295-7843.Thank you for your consideration.

At 10:00 AM every Sunday morning the Word of God, transcribed in the Bible, is read and explained for us today which brings the the past to life in our times. The Lord God says: I am the Alpha and the Omega, the one who is and who was and who is yet to come, the Almighty.
