Free Community Programming to Rankin School - See below for details

The Municipality of the County of Victoria, with the assistance of Community Champions, is bringing free community programming to the Rankin School of the Narrows in Iona. Community Champions are volunteers from the area who help with on-site delivery of recreation programs in a safe and inclusive environment. If you have questions about the following programs, please contact Christopher Woodford, Active Living and Recreation Coordinator at (902)294 -0063 or by email: christopher.woodford@victoriacounty.ca

Pickleball – Monday evenings - Time 6 to 8 pm - Ages: 15 years of age and older. Program runs to June 10th

Ultimate Frisbee – Thursday evenings - Time 6 to 8 - Ages: 15 years of age and older. Time: 6 pm to 8 pm. Program runs to June 13th.

Family Fun Nights: Is a 4 week drop-in program for all ages showcasing a particular activity as well as offering different giant board / lawn games (4-in-Row, Tumbling Tower, Snakes and Ladders, etc.) – Dates: March 19th, March 26th, April 2 and April 9th. Time 6 to 8 pm

Drop off your Refundables at Rankin School

We are still accepting refundable recyclables here at the school. If you are dropping off Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 - 3 please leave them in the two small wooden boxes beside the shed at the top of the bus loop. If you are dropping off on weekends or after school hours, you can drive down to the garage and place the bags or boxes in the new shed beside the garage. We would like everyone to know that we are very appreciative of any and all donations of refundables. Thanks for your continued support of our school.

ST. BARRA PARISH: The Sacraments of First Eucharist, First Penance and Confirmation will take place at St. Columba Church, Iona, in the spring. Eligible candidates for First Eucharist (Grades 2 and up); First Penance (Grades 4 and up) and Confirmation (Grades 7 and up) are required to register by emailing stcolumba.iona@ns.sympatico.ca or by phoning Josie at 902-725-2173. More information on classes, etc., will be announced at a later date. This is for children in Iona area, Christmas Island area and Boisdale area. Please register as soon as possible. Thank you.

Windows at St. Columba Church

WINDOWS AT ST.COLUMBA CHURCH-The two wooden windows on the water side of the church will need to be replaced this year at an estimated cost of $2000 per window. As was done with the previous window replacement, any parishioner or friend of the parish who would like to donate a window in memory of a family member or friend can do so by contacting Gregory at 902-295-7843.Thank you for your consideration.

At 10:00 AM every Sunday morning the Word of God, transcribed in the Bible, is read and explained for us today which brings the the past to life in our times. The Lord God says: I am the Alpha and the Omega, the one who is and who was and who is yet to come, the Almighty.
