Assistive Technology includes any item, piece of equipment or system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve how a person performs some task of daily living. It provides new ways to assist both computer interaction and learning. Assistive Technology augments abilities and bypasses or compensates for a disability. Assistive Technology is any tool that makes a computer easier to see, hear and use.
Outreach Services:
We realize that it’s not always easy to get into a CAP Site due to transportation issues,  or lack of accessibility into the building. We also realize that not everyone has access to a computer or the Internet. Through our outreach services we may be able to assist you with these concerns.

Every computer comes with the following features... you can...
  • Make your font large...it will stay like that, you only have to change it once!

  • Make your pointer large so it is easier to follow?

  • Change the size of items on your desktop so they are easier to see?

  • Use the arrow keys on your keyboard instead using a mouse?

  • Slow down the speed of the mouse pointer?

  • Set your computer to display visual warnings if your computer makes a sound?

  • Switch mouse buttons for left handed use?

If you would like to learn more about these features or would like assistance using them or others please contact Iona CAP Site  by calling 725-2785

or you can visit  http://www.microsoft.com/enable
